Jodie Wilson brought together a team in 2008 to determine the viability of expanding the publication of her friend Eve, Owner of Discover The Dayton Region Magazine, to Phoenix as the founder of the region. That year she founded the website as an online resource to both tourists and residents, complete with business directories, local articles, how-to’s, Phoenix living tips, and much more. Under Jodie’s leadership, the traffic to the website increased by over 2000% and received over 2 million organic hits in under a year. Within 2 years the site was featured in a magazine article by Forbes. Later Jodie worked with a number of key people to create the print magazine for her region, and later spending years learning ways to maximize business opportunities on-line, she has become an expert in the emerging social media outlets such as FaceBook, Twitter, Linked In. That was now a decade ago.
Historically, before founding Discover The Region Publications she served with Cargill Inc., the largest independently owned company in the world at the time. Her responsibilities included the creation of an ergonomics team, management of OSHA files and the establishment of a Behavioral Based Safety Team. She also led a number initiatives including wellness programming, fundraising for 911 and safety training to union members. These activities resulted in numerous awards including recognition as one of Cargill’s Top Volunteers for Service in the Community and Cargill Employee Appreciation and Recognition.
Jodie is a very active community organizer and volunteer. She is a bone marrow donor, a participant in the JennaBears Program, and was an organizer of a fundraiser for 911 which raised $50,000. She has historically or currently serves in The 3000 Club as a food rescue volunteer, Auxiliary Board member for Valley View Community Food Bank and is a member of the Surprise Leads and Networking Group, the American Business Women’s Organization ABWA, and the Eco-Monday an Eco-Friendly Group.
