Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum –Falcon Field As grandparents we sometimes need to come up with a ‘Plan B’ activity. The Commemorative Air Force Aviation Museum at Falcon Field was my ‘back-up plan’ when our schedule changed. The Fun and Art of Pumpkin Decorating

Pumpkin carving, painting, or decorating is one of those activities that can bring family members of all ages and description together for fun. Other groups of people such as teachers or leaders with students, scouts, teams, or specialty classes can have a good time decorating pumpkins too. It fun, a little messy, and can teach safety with using sharp tools, give the opportunity for creativity and pride of one’s work, and allow for memorable conversations between participants. Cathy Droz and Cathy Burford Desert Botanical Gardens

Each spring and fall the Desert Botanical Garden ( DBG) plays host to some beautiful visitors. Butterlies, Mariposas, Papillions, by whatever name you choose, these elusive creatures are shipped in by the hundreds and are allowed to fly free in the Marshall Butterfly Pavillion. Turn Play into Teaching

After being around kids in all sorts of environments for years, I’ve decided that children learn the most when they think they are playing. Some walk into a classroom and immediately switch their brain to the “off” position. When having fun, they aren’t aware school is in session, and hands-on education takes place. I’ve watched them gain skills in reading, math, science, art, music and social studies without noticing anything but the good times. Click here for the full article.
